Anyone here train? Any lovers of strength sports or body building here? What do you do, what's your programme, what are your goals? Let's chat about it!
I got into body building workouts (not competing, just the style of training) back in 2019 or so and fell in love with it and I've done it ever since. I do an upper and lower body split, 4 days a week most weeks and my long term goals are to keep getting buffer and sexier lol. And to make further progress in things that require good callisthenics like climbing and pullups. I'm very inspired by an animal I have a somewhat spiritual connection with, being strong and good at climbing bridges the gap for me.
I'm doing a lower body workout as we speak, deadlifts plus some legs, glutes and ab exercises.

Do martial arts count?

I do kung-fu classes 4 days a week, and additional training outside of class. It helps me with my flexibility, stamina, core strength, and general health.

It counts if it brings the thread some traffic
What belt are you on?

I was never big into gyms, but I did use to ride bicycles 3,000 to 5,000 miles a year.

I used to have a doctor who looked like he worked out in a gym all day every day. Before that, he was the team doctor for a US boxing team. Whenever he wasn't seeing one of his few patients, I think that he worked out with them.

I work out 3-4 times a week lifting weights at a gym. I've been doing it for 15 years with the goal to slow down the ageing.

I do it to age well too, I want to still be nimble into my 80s! My nana knows an old lady in her 90s who works out, I want that to be me.
I have family history of terminal cancers on both sides so I'm strict with my lifestyle and diet in order to put off activating whatever sh***y genes I'm carrying. My uncle on my dad's side died in 2003 at the age of 39, my dad earlier this year at 59. His lifestyle was very sedentary. Idk if my uncle's was because I didn't know him that well but being in the same age bracket as he was does make me a bit anxious. I can't afford to let myself go.

Our system doesn't use belts. I've passed my first 3 advancement tests, and am close to being ready for my 4th (two forms left). I think that might be equivalent to something like a green or blue belt?

Much like you and others have said, I want to age as strongly as I can. I've seen the difference in health and mobility between people who actively work out, vs people who mostly sit around.

I tend to do more isometrics and cardio than weights. I want strength and to lean out a little more, but I'm not looking to bulk up. Also trying to improve my leg flexibility, cos it helps with my lower back problems.

I want to become a strong/fit girl, I don't lift proper weights, just dumbells currently. I want to get into pilates, pole fitness or aerial or something similar this year. Currently I do home workouts and sometimes go to the gym, I have lost nearly 3 stone/ 42 pounds since June last year. I am more focused on body fat percentage than weight though and it is currently at 34% (according to the scale I use which has body fat scanner) but I'd like to be around 22%

Michael Parkinson (to Peter Cook): "When were you at your fittest, Peter?"

Cook: "Er...date of birth, I think."
