sensory issues - does this make sense?
Growing up as a child and still now today my eyes are really sensitive. I remember how when I was in grade school alot of boys do that whole "play fighting" thing where they throw a half-punch at you. Except in my case I would always flinch. Something coming at my eyes I always stumble back and flinch. Theres just something scary about something rapidly moving in front of my eyes. Other boys thought I was a weak p**** because of that.
Yet its not the physical pain that scares me. Im not afraid of actually the impact of getting hit, but its the uncertainty of when it is going to happen that really scares me.
Gawd I remember one time I in 3rd grade I was at the basketball courts and this one kid hated me for some reason i didnt understand (seamed to be quite common growing up) HE Punched me in the eye. I was standing there and I was really shocked, I couldn't beleive it, and I startd crying. Several of the other boys came over after the end-of-recess bell rang and were trying to console me. They said what class he was going back to. I don't know how much I knew about schoolyard "code" but I did not want to tattle. I said no I just wanted to retreat, but they would not let me and easily convinced me and we went to that boy's classroom and I told his teacher crying in front of all those kids what had happened.
3rd grade imprint of a bad experience.
like getting bitten by a shark. you tend to be wary going back into the water.
it will be with you for a long time i suspect.

it is a reflex.
when i say this, it is meant in a physiological manner and not everday usage.
when animals see somethign moving fast at a distance, they are imprinted to observe and watch this fast moving object, closely.
it is a natural REFLEXIVE reaction.
when a fast moving object is in close proximity to the body and eyes then there is also a REFELEX to avoid, and flinch, duck move hide protect.
this i snormal and hard to control.

Well personally I have always had the instinct to run whenever a ball is flying around. To me it is like having a randomly-flying missile. I had such poor coordination as a child that I was terrified of ball games because if a ball came towards me I often would be unable to predict its trajectory and in which direction to move and get out of the way. People used to laugh at me because if a ball came in my general direction I would run away.
