I'm really in to figure skating, and I'm trying to pass my skate UK bronze star at the moment (two foot spins, bunny hop into drags, waltz jumps).
Does anyone like figure skating? Either watching or doing.

When I was a teenager, I used to love to figure skate; in fact, I thought I wanted to become a figure skater. Unfortunately, though, they closed down the rink in the town that I lived in, so I was forced to stop. So, I ended up becoming a professional ballet dancer instead. I guess it was fate....

I still like to watch it though, every now and then.

What a shame they closed the rink. It's never too late to find a rink and learn some new moves though.
I'm trying to learn spirals at the moment, and will hopefully be learning waltz jumps when I've mastered spirals.

Yeah, maybe you´re right. Although, it was so long ago that I skated, I probably have to relearn how to skate again! Well, that may be a slight exaggeration...

But seriously, in the end, I had a very fulfilling career as a dancer. I think it ended up being better for me personally. I think these things we can´t control...like my rink closing...often happen for a reason.

It may be fun, though, to find a rink here and skate again. It does make for a good time. :D

i've never been a figure skater but i know someone who's gone very far in the sport. he's gone to national competitions, most likely international as well but i'm not sure which, and his mom was lucky enough to be the seamstress for the Canadian Olympic team at the last two Olympics (one winter and one summer).

My school is right beside the world's largest outdoor skating rink so i plan on getting a lot more ice time this winter. we also have an Olympic sized outdoor speed skating rink that i plan on using a bit as well this off season so i don't have to spend my winter locked up in the dungeon on a rowing machine.

I love to watch it. Skating and running are my two favorite sports, even though I don't do either myself.

I'm very happy that other people on this site like ice skating.
My favourite skater is Sasha Cohen, but since she isn't really skating any more I'm going to be on the look out in the lead up to the 2010 olympics for a new skater to watch.
I'm also working very hard on my ice skating. I'm a very inflexible person so I have to do these very boring stretches every day. I also keep getting told off for holding my shoulders up too tensed.
