Does anyone know good foods for aspies and also no I won't do the GFCF Diet, i'm lazy as it is lol. I heard that there are enzymes that help you digest Glutein and Casein better, has anyone tried them? I also have slight discoloration under my eyes and I wa't to get rid of it! Thanks guys.

Gluten free, casein free...basically avoiding many grains and milk...supposedly helpful to some autistics who have difficulty digesting those and become "intoxicated" with their consumption leading to out neurological issues . Interesting theory and the diet does help some people with "some" AS issues .

As to the OP...

I love Ramon noodles. I wait until it comes to a boil and then throw in the noodle brick, and when that gets soft, add a couple of eggs and let them soft boil . If I am really ambitious, I will buy a bag of pre-cut fresh broccoli and throw that in the microwave for 8 minutes and add that to the pot. I also like to do this with those box's of chicken stuffing . I don't know that you could call these aspie friendly food but it certainly is good for poor and cooking challenged people .

At leat better then my old aspie diet...chocolate chip cookies, cigs and coffee.

(edited because I have a headache and my communication is being effected...my bad)

I do not like too much dairy and I have tried gluten-free and it makes me sick and spacey and light-headed. I could see it working for people who actually have problems digesting gluten and dairy but I do not think that condition occurs in all Aspies.

As is I just avoid sugar (my family is diabetic) and too much processed carbs (white flours, etc.) because I do not want to raise my blood sugar. And since eating more than a small amount of dairy makes my stomach hurt I only have a little milk every once and awhile and I drink soy milk (because in Japan soy milk actually tastes good).

White Tea. Lots of antioxidants. It gets rid of my headaches pretty quickly, too.

Everyone is different. I've been gluten-free for nearly a year, and it's helped tremendously. I eat mostly meat and eggs with the occasional fruit here and there, maybe some vegetables too. Oranges are really good to wake up to (if you can handle the acid), and apples and tortilla chips make really good snacks. But that's just me. I still need to fix my diet, as I often get pretty bad headaches, but I think that's an issue of sleep problems as well...

Omega oils
Seafood
Nuts

Protein only in the AM (avoid carbs)

Bring in the carbs in the PM (Pasta, rice, bread, potatos...)

Eliminate additives (nitrates, nitrites, artificial coloring & flavoring

Variety

Easy on the sugar

Don't let yourself get obsessed with food. Food is fun. Enjoy it all unless you have life-threatening allergies. Key word - eat it all. Don't become psychologically adverse to veggies or meat or sugar. Moderation is key. Deprivation is not healthy.

Good aspie foods, well for me that would be CHOCOLATE, then there is the candy food group, they put it at the top of the food pyramid because it is the most important. Sorry I am of no help, but would like to try the GFCF diet one day.

You mean the "Gummi bear, Twizzlers, Mike and Ike, Jelly Belly, Now and Later, Skittles, Red Vine, Nerds diet"???

And depending on the "time of the month", the "3 Musketeer, Twix, Kiss, Tootsie Roll diet."

I actually got it into my head a few weeks ago to go on the Paleo/Warrior Diet. I decided to do this for a number of reason, the main ones being reducing inflammation, increasing my energy-level during the day, and attempting to live forever! (~my goal is to one day achieve lotr-elf-dom~) So far, so good  Here's a description of said diet for your info:

-Paleo Diet-

Do Eat: Anything that you could possibly forage in the wilderness; examples being nuts, berries, veggies and fruits that can be eaten raw (but you don't have to necessarily eat them only raw), grass-fed meats, game, poultry, fish (never farmed!), and organic eggs.

Never Eat: Anything that has resulted from the Agricultural Revolution; such as grains, beans, sugar, and dairy.

Main Supporting Evidence: For 95% of our history on this planet, humans were pretty much all hunter-gatherers (so maybe our physiology is not in tune with us eating bread with every meal, etc.). Also, extant hunter-gatherer societies today are free of many of the "diseases of affluence" -diabetes, heart disease, degenerative neurological diseases, cancer, even acne- ...that is, until western, processed foods find their way into their traditional diets.

-Warrior Diet-

This is basically the Paleo Diet, just with the stipulation that you eat really lightly (or hardly at all) during the day, and then, in the evenings, you go as crazy as you want. I actually find this way of eating really manageable, because I don't have to worry about lunch and have tons of energy during the day. People also advocate this one since it's been shown to reduce inflammation and blood sugar levels pretty substantially.

If it's worth anything, I feel wonderful eating this way...and this is coming from a former "candy dieter" myself. Not only has it cranked my super-focusing ability up a few notches, but my mood is also pretty good all the time. Plus, I've had some hardcore acne since I was 18, and my skin is REALLY clearing up (seriously, it's awesome!) I've been on this tract for about 2.5 weeks now, so I'll keep you all posted just in case there's a drastic change or something. I recommend googling it n'such if you're interested; there's plenty of information out there.

~peace~
