Anyone here have 'banana raisins'? (Skin tags)
I'm wondering if this is a sign of just getting old, because I noticed as a child that my dad had lots of them. We called them 'banana raisins' in our family lingo. Well, now I have them, and I'm wondering if this means I have some kind of skin cancer. I've got 2 on each side of my torso, and one on my right inner thigh near my crotch, and am worried that more will spread. What the heck do they mean?!

I don't know if you mean brown/purple (raising colored) banana shaped patches or yellow raisin shaped spots. But either way if they worry you ask your regular doctor or go see a dermatologist. I have no idea what they are but if your father (I think you said father) has them too, it could be some funky skin genetic coming up. Or you could be predisposed to something and its showing up. Ask a doctor. You could just have a funky family name for liver spots though.

Yes I have these (good name by the way) My mother who has totally different skin to me also has them. My mum has olive skin with no freckles and she tans well, I am very fair and tend to freckles and burning. Apparently they are HARMLESS (so do not feel afraid LOL) However I have a sneaking suspicion that they have some connection with blood sugar/ insulin issues or perhaps weight issues. They tend to appear on areas that have more friction than most others. Like under the arms where they rub on your torso or where you seatbelt rests on your neck. When I was pregnant I got them where my belly rubbed. I have even had one on my eyelid (I got that one removed) I notice I am rapidly getting more as I get older.
They are easy to get rid of. In this country they just tie someting tight around them put a cover over them and in a week or so they fall off. I have accidently scratched some of the ones I have and for such small things, they bleed like crazy.
cheers
