Would anyone like to join me in the Fitness Challenge?

Image

The goal is to complete the following tasks:

One Hundred Push Ups
Two Hundred Sit Ups
Two Hundred Squats

Following the guidelines set forth in those websites.

I have been trying to motivate myself to get back to some consistent exercise. I need to drop 20 pounds. :(

In the past I had success by following Body for Life's plan (but I didn't buy their supplements - just did the exercise routine and the calories per day). I lost 50 pounds - 5 or 6 years ago and for the most part kept it off. Since Christmas I've put on 20 pounds tho. I've gotten sloppy with eating and less exercise.

If anybody is interested in a 30 day Body for Life challenge, I'll try it again. Just get a copy of the book or go to their website for details.

I'll take a look at your plan, sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread talking about Body for Life. :)

I'm in!

Though I'm going to skip the 100 push ups. I'm going to do them against the wall instead of on the floor.
Adding to that I'll try to get 20 minutes of exercise a day as well (stationary bike).

Sure, sure ;P

I've never head of Body for Life but if they're trying to sell something I might just stick to the "Fitness Challenge".

Hope you join us .

Tomorrow, I'll start the break-down and do the Initial Tests.

The first step is to see how many we can do right now.

squats = repetitive back injury
push ups and sit ups are fine
sit ups - lift only the shoulders off the floort, but keep your lower back on the floor. this is to prevent back injury

They have a book for sale and some supplements, but I found the book used for a couple of bucks and most of the information is free on their website. I didn't buy anything else, just followed the plan.

Still I'll try to join yours. :)

srry if my last post came out sounding harsh. i am joining the OP in doing the push ups and the safe sit ups

Also:

NO SUPPLEMENTS (put unnecessary strain on your liver; a healthy diet is enough for a toned body; healthy diet - you are a healthy person)
1G/KG OF WEIGHT OF PROTEIN, NOT MORE (strain on kidneys, extra protein just gets excreted by body)
NO LEG LIFTS (back injury)

I can do the 200 squats and crunches already, but I'll try a modified version of the 100 pushups to go with the rest of my routine. I'll let you know how it goes. Be careful of rhabdomyolysis everyone, as repeating these specific exercises (squat and crunches) beyond capacity has lead to rhabdomyolysis in other people before! Listen to your bodies and don't push yourselves to far.

i can already do at least 100 consecutive sit ups, i don't know about 200, and i'm not sure how many squats i can do, i usually do jump squats.

i might try this as part of my training in the winter for fun, but i won't be doing them until then, or maybe in the fall, because i'm already training so much it would just be too much, i doubt i'd even have time to do it.

I do the sit-ups that Learning2Survive posted, I love them (:
and I love push-ups :D
I hate squats
I also do other exercises, and some weight-lifting, but lately I've been on and off, and I'd like to lose a couple of kilos (:

start slow, do maybe 10 of each, and in the following weeks do more, add only a couple each week.
good luck nansnick *thumbs up*

*joins challenge* (:

well, first week, thumbs up, I only exercised four days from the planned five, but well, it's better than nothing (:
Also, added one more exercise, only 20 repetitions at first.

I think I'll measure my weight and waist weekly to keep track of them.
