Hello. I have Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD. For one thing that I can say is that they don't mix. One thing I do know is that ADHD makes temper tantrums much more violent and Aspergers makes them more frequent. Yeah not such a good mix. I have to take a pill just to keep me calm. If I don't take it for a certain periods of time, tantrums and outbursts in the middle of a store/mall/school are likely. :x

Hi Princessbinas! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Check out the many interesting and helpful forums here.

Always check out any new meds online before taking them, as many can have troubling side effects. I am glad that what you are taking now seems to help, though.

You are among friends here at WP! :D

Same for me. They make a terrible mix. I've always been an aggressive person (according to the psychiatrist who make the last diagnosis even because of ADHD), and I must take my meds to stay calm and be able to do things more "normally".

I have this same problem; as a result, I can be a bit of a scatterbrain.

Yes, as and add can work terribly together, but they can also work beautifully together. My asperger gives me great ideas and my add gives me the courage to voice my ideas/make things happen. You have to work hard to get as and add to mix as good as possible, but it's worth it

Worse? Makes it way, way more fun!

At least the pills are good. 8O

At least I'm on anxiety pills. But the main problem with me is my mind being everywhere at once (the ADHD at work) and I can barely get anything done. But at least the ADHD gives me a small boost in PE by making me able to get my wind back quicker.

Idon't have ADHD, but -to put it this way- I have some ADHD-traits I guess. My brother had clearly ADHD as a child.
I'm kind of a "syndrome mix".

How does one cope with having both of these, anyway?

with a heaping helping of daily extra effort and mindfulness, to the point of tedium.
