I developed tics a couple of months ago. And when I say developed tics I mean I developed a sudden onslaught of countless simple and complex motor and vocal tics. I've been told that this is unusually and I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else. I'm feeling a bit alone in this at the moment.

I haven't but mine got much worse at the beginning of the year, though they go up and down every so often. Sometimes people have always had the tics but they were barely noticeable before and then something triggers them to get much worse or they just get much worse, not saying this is what's happening to you but it's not comepletey uncommon in people with tics.

I developed tics when I was on the antipsychotic Geodon/Ziprasidone. They went away after my psych took me off of it. Other antipsychotics & maybe other psych meds can potentially cause them if your on any. Talk to your doc/psych about em.

Mine developed over the course of puberty, progressively got worse slowly with age, tics that progressively more complex and frequent. Started simple like squinting, throat clearing that went onto more complex myoclonus tick of neck, shoulder and whole body movements, tiptoeing and babbling. Migraines would get more frequent especially during downtimes of an overload or a mood swing either high or low. Those of the least complexity would frequently be seen more. Can have anywhere between 5 a day of one every 5 minutes depending on mood, temperature, migraine, stress and other factors. Diagnosed Tourettes otherwise and not medicated for it, taking Mirtrazapine full dose for depression, mood wings and the migraines. It is believed that it is not caused by epilepsy nor post-natel brain damage.

Yes, with me it started around the age of 16-17 after my mental health started to get bad. It tends to be when I am incredibly stressed they start to form. They can be anything from weird noise, a yelp, to rarely full words or the start of words. It seems to cause a body jolt as well which sorta starts off from the face, if that makes any sense.

I started having head/neck tics at 29, not long after some utterly depressing stuff happened. At first I only had tic episodes when I thought of all that stuff, but I still tic now when I get nervous or there's bright or flashy light or some other stuff. My drs all said it was weird cuz usually tics start when you're young and get better with age. They think it may have something to do with my ASD, premature birth, stress, or the meds I used to be on, but I never got a for sure answer.
