I am having manic episodes again. I feel too happy and a bit too impulsive. What are the healthy coping skills I can develop to come down to Earth and relax?

I'm not too sure what to say as far as being too happy. Listening to music usually helps me keep that energy in check, as does walking. As far as being impulsive I'm trying to recognize myself each time I go to do something impulsive but manage to stop myself. It's as simple as saying "hey, you did it; good job." And I try not to put myself down when I give in to those impulses.

Take meds as prescribed (and don’t self med). Keep a log. Try to focus on pro-social and avoid anti-social uses for the energy.

Paint? Write?

I'd suggest writing.

The last time I was manic I was far more creative than I've ever been under normal circumstances.

I can do that as well.
