I think that "DD" should be removed from diagnostic manuals.

In schizophrenia, one usually has a “thought disorder.” One’s thoughts are usually disorganized.

In delusional disorder, one’s thought patterns, aside from the delusions, are usually organized.

The problem is that having Delusional Disorders are from of thought disorder.

But how they convey their thoughts is organized.

Put a schizophrenic and a delusional person in the same room-----you'd see the difference.

The schizophrenic person would probably be sloppy and dirty; whereas the delusional person would probably be neat and trim.

Makes sense.

This is how the difference was explained to me:

"The delusional person builds castles in the sky, the schizophrenic moves in, and the psychiatrist collects the rent."

The problem is that Delusional Disorders are part of Schizophrenia Spectrum, the only difference is that all other symptoms of psychotic disorders are missing.
