I was being tongue-in cheek. I just alluded to published clinical definitions (not actually asking an actual psychologist who will basically do the same thing I did).

Ok, some people do actually suggest internet psychologists so yea lol.

And I am reading clinical stuff (including stuff from studies in my ethnic background) in addition to self reports.

With self reports...I do understand that with ASPD a lot of people have a lot of hype around all of that.

All true, but life is about taking risks and people want to experience everything in life even if it doesn't work out for them or their child.

(addressed to the OP)
What I don't understand is, why you take such a poor view of autistics.
I mean, you've painted us as either victims who get taken advantage of, or perpetrators of crimes who can get away with it because of the diagnosis.

(Sorry I can't help being curious and doing a bit of pop psychology - trying to judge whether you are autistic and angry about it, or whether you are correct about the misdiagnosis).

I don’t take a poor view though?

I am just saying that I have never really...connected with the dx. But I have one and I came here to post.

I have people with ASD that I do admire.

But I’ve asked these questions because that’s where I am at with processing my diagnosis.

Now, this is kinda why it is taxing for me to talk with some (not all) other people with ASD. Is that it’s assumed if someone asks something that is deemed a negative question it’s assumed they overall take a poor view of people with ASD.

That’s not true.

Also, I never said all men with ASD are sex offenders. I am well aware most are not.

And people with ASD are not always victims but...there is a high number that are.

You can think what you like. I am where I am with processing what I am processing. I am asking some hard questions because I have always had them and they have always been brushed off. Please respect that.

Also, what I will say as far as psych diagnoses go, Autism Spectrum Disorders have a highly positive reputation.

And that is wonderful, truly.

But I am kinda parceling out my thoughts on that because I have a diagnosis of ASD myself. And I have had experiences that were negative with other people with an ASD diagnosis.

Including school staff trying to pair me up as friends with one who I said many times I didn’t want to be friends with (I went along some times because it was easier). And then as I have mentioned, two sexual assaults (which I am not going into detail on because it upsets me to write out) with two males in their 20s who had the diagnosis of ASD.

If the way I deal with parceling all this out offends anyone then I am sorry to say I can’t help them. They need to figure out their own their feelings.

What I will say, is that I would also be careful on telling a survivor of sexual assault the right or wrong way to write or ask about their experiences. That is not going to go well in most cases.

And yes, this is kinda directed at MrsPeel but it can apply to anyone else.

She scares the heck out of me, no matter whether she is or isn't on the spectrum. 8O

Ok.

I can’t control what you think about me.

I am allowed to have boundaries around how people interact with me.

People who are scared about people’s boundaries actually make me a bit nervous.

Maybe if I scare you then you can keep a distance. Now that I know that I make you nervous I will do the same.

Weather you are on the spectrum or not, you're welcome here

How about sensory things? Do they bother you?
My curse is hearing everything a lot louder (but not clearer :/ ) than other people do - which makes me talk too loud as an automatic adjustment to background noise.
Do you experience anything of this kind?

Yes sensory things do bother me but I have developed ways to deal with it.

Noises do bother me a lot. Especially annoying ones.

I hope your home is possibly sensory-friendly, then.

If i were you, I would perhaps research psychologists in order to see if you can find one that is an expert in evaluating, diagnosing and treating people who are sociopaths / psychopaths.

I perhaps would start by researching by searching on amazon for books on sociopath-ism and psychos.
Ideally looking for the best clinical psychology books on the market, and look up the psychologists who authored the books, as they will likely take patients for evaluation but also ongoing treatment (if you want that).

That would nail the subject for keeps.

I have said before I don’t want to get a diagnosis because of the extreme stigma.

And there is not much treatment for those conditions.

And regardless, you need a lot of money for psych evaluations from those psychologists/psychiatrists in a lot of cases, I don’t have that.

Please respect that, but I thank you for your advice. I am happy discussing it here. That is my boundary for this.

Honesty is one of the things those on the spectrum are known for.
