What if I was a sociopath?
What I don't understand is, why you take such a poor view of autistics.
I mean, you've painted us as either victims who get taken advantage of, or perpetrators of crimes who can get away with it because of the diagnosis.
(Sorry I can't help being curious and doing a bit of pop psychology - trying to judge whether you are autistic and angry about it, or whether you are correct about the misdiagnosis).
She scares the heck out of me, no matter whether she is or isn't on the spectrum.
So many boundaries I simply can't see.
Ok.
I can’t control what you think about me.
I am allowed to have boundaries around how people interact with me.
People who are scared about people’s boundaries actually make me a bit nervous.
Maybe if I scare you then you can keep a distance. Now that I know that I make you nervous I will do the same.
Honesty is one of the things those on the spectrum are known for.
Yes and no I would say.

I perhaps would start by researching by searching on amazon for books on sociopath-ism and psychos.
Ideally looking for the best clinical psychology books on the market, and look up the psychologists who authored the books, as they will likely take patients for evaluation but also ongoing treatment (if you want that).
That would nail the subject for keeps.
Many people don't like to be given advice.
Autistic males have a compulsion to give advice.
This is a bad combination.

I am compulsively honest.

Well, if you want people's opinion on as to whether they think you are a sociopath or not.
You will have to reveal the reasons why you think you are or perhaps read through a list of common traits / behaviors.
Without information no one can give you a proper analysis, no more than they give anyone else an analysis that they do not know nor know anything about.

I am aware of that. And I will reveal what I want when I want.
I have revealed more than I ever have on this topic actually. So please do not push me.
If that is a major issue for you then I can't do much about that. If this thread annoys you btw don't look at it.

I would like to be supportive.
It is in my nature.

And there is not much treatment for those conditions.
And regardless, you need a lot of money for psych evaluations from those psychologists/psychiatrists in a lot of cases, I don’t have that.
Been there done that....
I self-diagnosed myself back in 2011 and after some reflection it never made sense. I knew deep down I was trying to fit into a self-bias that if my daughter was autistic then she must have got it from me.
I'm introverted but beyond that I'm fairly NT and I knew along.
Having "traits" doesn't mean you need to wear the label if you don't have to. And yes there's no therapy for autism.
.
Really? I thought you said you were scared of her?
They’re allowed to change their opinion.
If they have.

I was referring to Antisocial Personality Disorder (abbreviation is ASPD, basically sociopathy and psychopathy) actually when I said there was NO therapy. There is some being researched but as a whole there is really no therapy that turns out to really work (as far as we know, a lot of patients who are recipients of therapy for this are still children*). And that’s actually sad.
* When I say children reciving therapy for ASPD, I mean they are thought to have this disorder. However, my opinion is that your personality is not set until 25 (at least) so any personality disorder dx needs to not be a permanent dx until then. The line does have to be somewhere though. In most places I have heard of it’s 18.

BTW, since we are speaking about sociopathy and psychopathy...here is a interesting one: Kayla Bourque (you can google info I say in this post yourself and verify it)
For reference, my heritage is Eastern European.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4955239
What I consider is her beginnings...she was born in Romania. She was in an orphanage until she was 8 months old.
Often (not always) in orphanages around the world the babies are not held and loved.
I am not saying that is or is not the case with her personally.
BUT, that could have been what she experienced for the first 8 months of life.
The early days are critical in development.
How she is being dealt with is an experiment. But IMO it is an important one.
My opinion on international adoption is this, if you adopt a child from a country that is poor and then you decide to say...send a young child alone on a place back to Russia that is something you should be held accountable for. In a harsh way.
BTW, just google: adopting russian orphans problems
You’ll find a ton of links.
Now, keep in mind, I have Eastern European heritage. And I will not take kindly to anyone claiming I should not care about orphans from anywhere. Or that I should think 100% positively or negatively about any diagnosis.
I don’t hate people with ASD. It should be apparent.
And for the next thing I will say, I mean this with all my heart. And I am not going to take criticism for this next line well.
I hope that Kayla is able to make it.

And I have to express my thoughts on all of this somewhere.
So please understand that.
And if anyone psychoanalyses me, that’s fine.
But keep in mind you don’t really know me. In real life I mean.
