I recently have learned that a majority of issues that I have been dealing with in the past decade of my life can be linked to ADHD. I know that I have apsie thing going on as well. But emotionalism and inability not keep shut when rubbed the wrong way, and my chronic inability to bring things to conclusion(Like being able to finish a college semester except in a few rare cases) all linked to adhd not autism. I wondering what others of you have to combat this awful condition. I so much want a life and this keeps from that. I want so much to have my freedom from it.

For insights into the general topic of paying attention, sustained attention, and memory, you might try to locate a copy of the Nerves In Collision book by Walter C. Alvarez, M.D. and the How To (understand) Hyperactivity book (1981) about ADHD / central auditory processing disorder / modern nutrition by C. Thomas Wild. Both books (Alvarez, Wild) can provide insights here and there (no cures). Also, you might consider acquiring a written annual planner which can help with daily organization in small ways.

If your ADHD-related problems are severe, there are medications (stimulant/nonstimulant) that will temporarily supress symptoms like hyperactivity and inattentiveness. Though these drugs provide relief for 4-12 hours, they are not a "cure-all" solution.

Natural treatments include exercise, getting enough sleep, and making sure you're eating a healthy diet. Fish Oils can give you needed Omega-3 fatty acids.

I personally take 54mg of Concerta daily to curb ADHD symptoms.

I believe that meditation really helps, and there are some studies that suggest the same. Maybe there's a class near you, it's quite a thing to teach yourself.

Maybe you should start a thread of mediation. We could all learn a lot from your experiences.

Hey rastachucker!

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult as well. I can't decide if it is a relief or if it really pisses me off.
It is a relief in that I know I am not stupid or crazy, and there is a legitimate medical reason I am the way I am. But at the same time I am SO PISSED :wall: that no one figured this out earlier. Despite all the struggles I had in school... but that's another rant for another day.

Anywho, for my ADHD I take medication. It has made a huge difference for me. HUGE.
I am less emotional (bad kind, not like an emotional sombie or anything) I am able to complete projects, I am not in a constant state of frustration all the time. I don't get angry and blow up at every little thing.
This is so cool (to me) when i get angry now, I can actually do that thing that NT's always say and 'take a few deep breaths' to calm down and think about the situation.
This is crazy for me, I could NEVER do that before.

The medication has seriously improved my life in so many ways I can't even tell you all of them. My work is better, my driving is better, my relationship is better.

It also makes the AS stuff easier to deal with as well. Since I am not fighting the ADD, I can focus on the AS.
