Hi Anyone Reading This,

I have a nasty case of PTSD but also had a psychologist at a disability mental exam suggest I could be bi-polar I, rapid cycling with mixed episodes. I'm really not sure about this, or if my mood swings are really part of the PTSD.
My regular doc suggested Depakote. I'm very nervous about psych drugs and possible bad side-effects. Any experiences with it?

I know someone who had to take it. It mainly just made her exhausted. If anything I felt like she was more upset on it than off of it. She seemed weepy and tired.

I took it when my psychiatrist thought that I had bipolar.
I could not tell you about the side effects because I was on seroquel and topamax too.

The three of those medicines turned me into a zombie and I did noting but lie in bed for 5 years.

When I took Depakote, I was told to take it at night, so I did. The next day, everyone was telling me I was "a zombie", over and over again. I felt no feelings at all - whether positive or negative, and I didn't care about anything. It was a horrible feeling; trying to care and just not being able to.

My doctor immediately switched me to Lithium with AMAZING results. I am completely 100% stable on Lithium - with no manic or depressive episodes whatsoever. I am clearheaded and can feel to a 'normal' degree. My girlfriend says Lithium saved our relationship.
