Hello.
I recently had a diagnosis of bi-polar 1 with mixed episodes. It came from a SS exam so the doc only saw me once plus looked at my records. I never considered BP for myself, even though I have had huge mood swings all my adult life. Looking it up now I see there is something called 'rapid cyclying" bi-polar and that would fit my moods. I have felt what I know to be depression from time to time, but it is different from my normal "low mood" state: Also, I never have a need for less sleep - I have always needed 8-9 hours of sleep to function, sometimes more. And I don't go on spending sprees (hate shopping mostly) although I am not good at my money management, but that seems more explainable by impaired executive function.

My question is to those of you who have rapid, ultra-rapid or ultra, ultra rapid BP.
What is it like for you? Do you have different kinds of lows? Do you feel even keeled some of the time? Do you have a BP diagnosis without major sleep distubances?

I have self-diagnosed with AS and feel certain about that. Also have bad PTSD.

Any insight into rapid cycle BP would be appreciated. Thanks.

The people that do social security exams aren't the best and brightest, but if they say bipolar 1, you probably at least have some form of it. Don't dispute that finding now because it will help your case. You can always have the exact type of bipolar looked at later.

I was diagnosed with Ultradian (ultra ultra rapid cycling bipolar) this year (although I'm a type 2). Watch this, hope it helps somewhat.
