should i tell my boyfriend i self harm? if so how?

Both of us are almost 20 years old. We have been together for 1 and a half years. We are at a point in our relationship that he can be trusted with such information. But the only thing making me scared to tell him is i know how devastated it would make him feel. He's dealing with bad depression already and is taking anti depressants too. If i told him about my self harm it will literally make him cry... but i know he would feel worse knowing i am keeping secrets from him. Should i put him through that or should i continue hiding it?

The last few weeks my depression and self harm has gotten worse and is getting very hard to hide from him. as a result i have started to withdraw away from him. i am so scared that one day he will accidentally see one of my scars/cuts and will freak out.

should i tell him or continue hiding it from him for as long as i can? and if so how would i tell him? :?
:(

he'll find out eventually, it's not like you can just hide your arms forever, if he finds out without you telling him it'll cause all kinds of trust issues etc, and it's only going to make you feel worse until you do because you're holding a secret

^ Sorry, I think you meant 'improve'.

Back on topic: I think it's important for you to tell him, even though it's hurtful - it always is.
I don't think it's healthy for your relationship to hide this from him, seeing as you already withdraw in fear. He may start thinking there is something else wrong with the relationship. Also, if you look at the basics of a relationship you'll notice that trust is a grand aspect of it. It's only natural that you should tell him.

Good luck.
