I'm not too impressed with this. All this "new" test seems to be is looking at cytochrome 450 enzyme responses. Still doesn't mean that a person necessarily will respond to a particular medication. Sure, there's a better chance that a person will respond to a medication that works favorably with their individual cytochrome 450 profile, but there are lots of drugs out there that are metabolized by the same enzyme. So, it still is going to be trial and error, for the most part. What we need to achieve is finding more biochemical markers of neuropsychiatric disorders in the brain. I believe that finding the right medication is much more a question of finding the drug that works best for your individual neurochemistry than it is about the cytochrome 450 system.
