If someone asked me to describe what AS feels like to me I would say 2 things:

1. I feel no connection to people.
2. Preoccupation with order (presumably the OCD component).

Examples of the "Preoccupation with order" trait:

a. I have a fondness for math, because my brain is engaged in ordering things.

b. I use to play an online computer game, and the most enjoyable part of the game is collecting items, and ordering them onto my characters. The activity of ordering makes my brain very happy.

c. At one job I worked, a co-worker told me she had noticed how I would always park my car perfectly in the parking spot.

d. I have to provide my brain with a constant feed of information to order, or engage it in an ordering activity or it gets unhappy.

I can say with definiteness that my brain gets satisfaction from performing an "ordering activity", so is this indicative that the "OCD component" is not part of AS, or do we think that the "OCD component has coalesced with the brain, and you are your level of "preoccupation with order" ? Has anyone taken medicine for this ?

How do you know if you have too much of the "OCD component" ?

To me this is difference between me and NT people with regards to intelligence.

Thanks.

Technically, all Aspies have obsessive tendencies.. Some of us have more than others...

While a psychiatrist will state that ANY obsessive tendencies are too much... I have always asked the question - does it make it hard for you to function? Are you unhappy because of it? If you answer no to these questions, then you do not have too much of it
