Does anyone else here self harm as well?

After being let go from a job I ended up relapsing and made a few deep cuts into my arm.

What should I do?

There are many things to do. But one of them is not mutilating oneself.
You must stop. . . . for your own good.
Now, I don't know what is going on wrong with your life. It obviously isn't a flower garden as of now. But before things get worse, why don't you take the next step on your road to healing and try to make some friends here at Wrong Planet? You don't need to give away your personal information, you only need to welcome our support. Give us a holler when you need it. We care. . . . . because we speak the same language, you know, we haven't had picture perfect lives and such. Please don't struggle alone. You don't have to be alone.

Just to make a long story short, it's been a reoccurring problem. I was doing well by not doing it for four years but for reasons I don't want to disclose, I just lost it and now am regretting it horribly due to the level of severity.

I will try to make some friends here, it seems there are people on here who do show common interests so that is a start.

hey i know exactly what you are going through. i myself went 2 years without self harm. then one year ago i relapsed quite badly. but now i have been 1 and a half years since i self harmed.one thing that helped me to stop was to write or draw something meaningful on top of my self harm. draw something beautiful or even a quote that means something to you. or write the names of loved ones who care about you. anything that can give you motivation to stop.

in a few weeks, i personally am choosing to get a tattoo as a reminder that there is hope. i am personally a christian so am planning to get a cross. and im also getting a semicolon tattoo because of its meaning. but maybe you could just use a pen?

I haven't made deep cuts in over 2 years but last time I did I passed out from blood loss and when I woke up the floor was covered in blood and my roommate was screaming.. I wasn't even trying to die though. since then I've "relapsed" a few times with superficial cuts but have not gone forward with the cuts that would have satisfied me more at the time. the superficial cuts are still somewhat satisfying...maybe like a heroin addict coming off it with methadone.

but what should you do? idk. pm me if you ever wanna talk tho.

Hello there,

I went for 3 years without self harming and then 2 months ago I started up again. I know it was the stress of having to move and my anxiety was sky high. My depression as been quite bad lately as well. I just can't seem to shake it although I am trying my best to. I've been self harming since I was 12 years old, landed myself in the hospital a few times because of it. I have a great support group that I go to as well as a case worker at Canadian Mental Health who is also my therapist. I know I need to talk to them about my depression and I will,it's just hard to bring up.

If you ever want to talk, you can pm me.

Take care.

I used to be a frequent cutter in my teenage years. Most were not all that deep, but I preferred to make a dozen or so slashes across my arms and legs at each sitting. 20 Years later I still have many scars from this behavior. It granted me a serenity and calm.

And what stopped me? Many people will not like this answer- but smoking weed. Seriously. As a matter of fact starting smoking weed at that point may have stopped me from suicide. It brought a calm and contentment to me heart that had always been lacking prior.

While it may be flawed to use drugs to help you with your problems, it's not nearly as flawed as self-mutilation.

I never cut myself, but I have the impulse on occasion. I visualize cutting ribbons down my face, but never do it. At most I pull my hair or hit myself.
