There was this psych test I took quite awhile ago that I'm probably just thinking about because I can't sleep that was like 500 questions... Can't think of it's name, but the only feedback I got out of it was someone asking me "do you think others know what you are thinking?"

I was baffled then and now, what likely was this test and what did it measure?

I did something like that, before the focus of the assesment shifted to autism alsmost entirely.

Questions where you either agree or disagree. Or you get to answer on a scale of totally disagree untill totally agree.

I think it is to sniff out traits of certain personality disorders for example. Might give them something to look for, if there is any indication. I had traits of 6 possible PD's after taking the test :D

Autism could explain most of it though. (not all, there is room for improvement)

You are likely talking about the MMPI test. I have done that twice before. It just tests for personality disorders and other mental illnesses.

They are smart to use Occam's razor and rule out more prevalent possible core reasons for symptoms before moving on to Autism. This is because up until the 80s schizophrenia and autism were lumped into the same category. That little was known about it at the time. So separating the two (ruling out) is a good first step. I am no degree holder in psychology/psychiatrics, but I am self studied enough to be confident that the scientific method is one of the best practices in use.
