I want to compare what everybody who has alexithymia has to say on this.
Answer to these questions with NEVER,SOMETIMES,OFTEN, VERY OFTEN, ALWAYS
Question n. 8 contains an additional exercize.
1)How often do you redirect your attention from the external world and what you're doing, to your body?
2)How often are you capable of feeling hunger long before you hear a noise in your stomach that signals it?
3)How often are you capable of discerning when you have to go to the bathroom, before you feel like your bladder is very much about to explode?
4)How often are you sensitive to temperature?
5)How often can you hear the heartbeat in your ears when you have a fever?
6)How often do you understand it on your own that you have a fever before somebody else tells you that you have it?
7)When you do sports do you notice that you're too tired to continue? How often?
8 ) How often can you feel your heartbeat at rest, in your chest, without touching it?
Additional exercize (viewtopic.php?p=4681080):
Step 2: Set a stopwatch for one minute and press your index and middle finger on the artery just below your thumb. Count the heartbeats you feel that way.
Step 3: Wait two minutes, then do step two again.
Step 4: Take the average of your two regular pulse measurements (steps 2 & 3) and then calculate:
1 - (estimated heartbeat - average pulse)/average pulse
Ignore the plus or minus, what matters is how far off you were. If you got .80 or higher, you have good interoception. A score between .60 and .79 is moderately good, and a score under .60 means poor interoception.
9)How often can you feel that you actually have tachycardia when you're anxious?
10)How often do you ignore your physical sensations?
11)How often do you feel full after eating?
12)How often do you forget to drink or eat?
13)How often are you thirsty while you eat?
14)When somebody coughs, does seeing them make you cough too?
15)How often do you feel the nausea, or do you skip it and feel immediately like you want to trow up?
16)How often do your emotions produce facial expressions?
17)How often do you confuse hunger with something else?
