Do I have autism or are my problems psychosis related?
Basically I have gotten over all my symptoms from my schizophrenia diagnosis. Yet, I am left with the same problems I have had since I was young. I fit a lot of the conditions for autism and get quite high scores with online autism assessments. Are these problems caused by what I see as 'being born with schizophrenia' and developing positive symptoms at 18, or do recovered people from sz have autistic social and routine traits like that?
I have been misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and mismedicated for it a few years ago.
My symptoms were completely misinterpreted as I didn't know the words to describe them.
It is also entirely possible to have both autism and schizophrenia.
What symptoms got you the schizophrenia diagnosis? Can you try to describe how you experience them?

It is clear now that I had schizophrenia. I heard voices and had delusions frequently. I have made a complete recovery after it affecting me quite badly for a 10 year period. It is pretty clear to me that I will never have symptoms again, I feel that way just like anybody else would. My problem is, I dont know that if the autistic traits I have are just part of a schizophrenia dx or that they could be dx'd as autism. Sounds strange but basically everyone I have talked to with a sz dx online has the same social problems mixed in with things like routine and sensory problems. I just want to know which direction I should go. Should I try for an autism dx which would describe the only symptoms I have now, or just say they are sz related.
