I don't think the man is a symptom

He's been there since I was a kid. I take advice from him in my dreams, and he has anger because people refuse to see him. They just talk to me but he's there too. He's the reason I dress a certain way sometimes, he makes me feel safe. I want him to feel safe. He stays hidden and is the reason I can't talk in therapy or to my psychiatrist. They just treat him as a symptom if I mention him. They're like "I think you could use an adjustment". I don't think he's fully fake. I can't be myself if he's not allowed to be recognized. Yet nobody listens.
