Surely if you're into women, you like women?

And if you're into men, you like men?

But it feels like the other way around. Like straight women are often saying stuff like 'men are trash' and straight guys are often slagging women.

Even more strange when it's gay. So a lesbian slagging all women or a man saying 'men are trash'...

I feel like if romance/sex weren't things, some people wouldn't have grown out of the 'boys/girls have the lurgy' stage of development.

I don't get this either? I'm not cis but I don't... hate either women or men or nonbinary people?? Why would I do that?? I don't relate to men or masculinity as much but I don't... hate men?

Which is which?  Both sexes seem to dislike body hair on women, but not dislike it on men.

Basically all of them, but then again, gender essentially means nothing to me.

To be quite honest, I don't understand why women shave EVERYWHERE.....

I'm sort of turned off to leg hair and hair on a woman's chest or body (though it wouldn't be a dealbreaker).....but hair everywhere else is totally cool!

I am just going to say, I am totally fine with body hair on women. Although, I am also really into androgyny, so I don't know if that means something.

I don't care either way - body hair simply doesn't factor into what I find attractive or not. Unless it was particularly thick (or dyed an unnatural colour) I don't care if a woman has leg or arm hair. In fact I'd admire her confidence. Personally, I shave my underarms but I often don't shave my legs unless I'm going to wear tights. I've worn shorts and skirts before without shaving my legs, usually I don't get criticised for this but it has happened. My preference is mainly because I like wearing long-sleeved T-shirts and I find that I sweat a lot more when I don't shave my underarms.

However, I still prefer more feminine presenting women with long hair. Especially if she has a bohemian or grunge style. I'm not into particularly muscular women. Nothing wrong with that though, that's just my preference.

Personally I am not a fan of body hair on men or women, but I recognize it as a personal choice and don’t criticize anyone of any gender for having obvious body hair. Doing so to me would be like criticizing someone for wearing a shirt in a color I don’t like.

Women are "so pressed on getting rid of natural body hair" and men are not.
While I feel free to ignore most of the gender roles/stereotypes I find not making sense, this one is so strong that I have to at least trim my calf hair in the summer just to be left alone without people making fuss.
It's stupid.

Ha ha ha same here!

One thing I find strange (although it's not a "role") is gift suggestions for men and women in supermarkets. Because all people base their taste in music and films on their gender right?

I’m biologically female, and my favorite music and films are metal and horror

I found it perplexing as a kid that girls were supposed to think arthropods are gross, I didn’t understand at all when I showed some other girls a cool beetle I’d found at recess one day and they all cried “Eew!” Arthropods were my very first special interest.

You would be surprised how many "definitely feminine" girls and women don't like stereotypically "feminine" things.

I've had some very feminine lovers who were sports fans, and liked carpentry.

I'm a sports fan----but a very poor carpenter.

My mother was Ms. Fixit Woman. My father could barely screw in a lightbulb. I take after my father :P

The wearing of makeup is the one gender role that I find most puzzling.  Sure, some women can enhance their appearances with a light touch of rouge and liner, but most women with whom I have gone camping actually look better once the makeup comes off.

But when a man wears makeup, he looks like a mud-duck -- "mud" is for the caked-on makeup, and "duck" because he is obviously not a swan.

So why not do away with makeup altogether?

I hate buying male-oriented greeting cards, because they usually have the same few "guy" activities: fishing, grilling, sports, beer, tools, etc. There's nothing wrong with any of those things, but I don't like how those cards treat men as so narrowly stereotyped. Thankfully, I have an independent news store nearby that has a great selection of classy, blank cards that are great for pretty much any occasion.

I think some people are just stuck on gender archetypes and feel like society will crumble if those archetypes are disrupted.

Greetings cards are weird and just getting weirder.

Traditionally they imply that women do all the work. Mother's day is 'have a day off, you deserve it, spend that day improving your looks' and father's day is 'here's a reference to all the hobbies you do all the time'.

Unfortunately that has now been replaced with: overly sexual birthday cards for everyone who isn't a family member or a child, insulting birthday cards which are ageist, showing off cards which tend to show off about the sender...

Me and mum saw one when we were window shopping that said 'to the best mum in the world from the best kid in the world', I'm kind of tempted by that one lol. Its saving grace is that it compliments the addressee as well as the sender. And she doesn't consider my stepsisters as her children so she wouldn't consider me to start any fights by saying I'm her best kid - I'm her only biological child.

I get SJWs saying that even if a trans guy doesn't pass or even if he is closeted, he has male privilege. This makes no sense to me as privilege is all about how someone is treated [or really - avoids getting treated like how a lot of aspies get pain disregarded in a way that NTs don't but NTs won't notice that cos who notices absence of a negative lol]. If they don't get this treatment, they don't have that privilege. Male privilege isn't an inherent part of the male gender. I think it's overcompensation because of transphobes claiming trans women get it.
