Why do people act shocked when I show interest in girls?

Back when I told people I was bi they didn't act shocked. They just seemed to accept it until I showed interest in girls. What the hell is this s**t? Doesn't the definition of bisexual include attraction to girls??? Am I missing something? Or do people not know how to speak English anymore? I would understand if they acted shocked if I didn't tell them I was bi or whatever. It's not exactly the norm for girls to be attracted to girls. But bisexual girls are attracted to girls by definition.

My guess is that they didn't think you actually meant it.
Some guesses as to why:
1. You might not fulfill the stereotype they have in their head of what a bisexual girl looks or acts like.
2. It might be popular for women to claim bisexuality, because it makes them seem more exciting and daring, so people don't take it seriously when someone says that they are.
Maybe a combination of these?
