Has anyone here seen a women's autism specialist, who doesn't identify as a woman?

I'm assigned female at birth (afab) but identify as nonbinary. I identify with a lot of traits that have been described as autistic women's traits, even though I don't identify as a woman (which seems to be fairly common too...).

I recently tried to get diagnosed with ASD but was instead diagnosed with ADHD, Expressive Language Disorder, and Avoidant Personality Disorder. It seems like ending up with an alphabet soup like this is a fairly common experience for women on the spectrum seeking diagnosis, and I'm guessing a specialist in autistic women would probably be familiar with this.

So I'm wondering, even if you don't identify as a woman but society reads you as one and you've been socialized as one, have you found it useful to see an autistic women's specialist? Have you been open about your gender identity or pretended to be a woman? Being out as trans in a clinical setting is scary but feels really relevant, like my gender identity and identity as possibly autistic feel very related to me.

Also sorry if any of that was confusingly worded! I can clarify anything if you need.

if you're biologically a woman, it would be best to see a woman's specialist assuming you've not transitioned that is.

I agree with Fubu.

She would probably understand you somewhat better than a man would

It would be even better, though, if the therapist was "nonbinary."

I've never seen a specialist for anything in that area per say but I guess you can try it and see what happens. I'm also AFAB but I identify as genderqueer.
