Is this a different subunit within the "NCT U" unit (of the larger NCT group)?
I hope I'm starting to understand how the different groups within NCT work.

Anyways, this is a pretty solid debut from them. One of the best I've seen in a while in K-pop.

^ Here is an article of NCT U, I think there're no specific names for each small unit, I only understood that the whole unite is called 'NCT U'. ( Unfortunately this article is all I found, and this article failed to give out enough information about which unit is constituted of whom, maybe we could figure out soon as there will be posted more articles soon.)



(서울=연합뉴스) 이은정 기자 = SM엔터테인먼트의 초대형 신인 그룹 NCT(엔시티)가 이달 베일을 벗는다.

소속사 SM은 4일 "NCT가 멤버 구성이 다른 2개의 유닛(소그룹)으로 데뷔한다"며 "유닛의 이름은 모두 'NCT U'로 두 팀은 9일과 10일 각각 싱글을 발표하고 활동에 나선다"고 밝혔다.

NCT는 지난 1월 이수만 총괄 프로듀서가 프레젠테이션 쇼 'SM타운: 뉴 컬처 테크놀러지, 2016'에서 데뷔를 발표한 초대형 남자 신인 그룹이다.

NCT는 '네오 컬처 테크놀러지'(Neo Culture Technology)의 약자로 '개방성'과 '확장성'을 주요 포인트로 해 멤버 영입이 자유롭고 멤버 수의 제한이 없다. NCT라는 브랜드 아래 세계 주요 도시를 베이스로 한 각각의 유닛이 순차적으로 데뷔해 전 세계를 무대로 활동한다. NCT의 모든 유닛을 통칭해 NCT U라고 부르며 NCT U를 통해 멤버들의 다양한 조합과 변신을 보여줄 계획이다.

이번에 데뷔하는 멤버들은 4일부터 재현과 마크의 티저 이미지를 시작으로 NCT 홈페이지와 SM타운의 각종 채널을 통해 순차적으로 공개된다.

SM은 "엑소 이후 약 4년 만에 선보이는 남자 그룹이자 걸그룹 레드벨벳의 뒤를 잇는 신인으로, 올해 가요계의 핫 이슈가 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
