Hello!! >^w^< This is my first actual post on WrongPlanet, as it won't let me post my introduction in the freaking "getting to know each other" forum >_<""" But I want to say hello, I am Atticus!! I'm 14 years old and I have alot of interests, including music. One of my favorite music groups is the Misfits, a horror punk band formed in Lodi, NJ in 1977 The bands original singer Glenn Danzig (real name Glenn Anzalone) will not be mentioned much here, as I'm wanting to discuss the song "Resurrection" off of the Misfits' 1997 album American Psycho, which was released after the legal battles surrounding the Misfits and Glenn Danzig, as well as their new singer Michale Graves (real name Michael Emanuel) joining the band. This song can be interpreted in a few ways;
It could be about Jesus Christ, explaining the references to crucifixion as well as the name of the song. This is also plausible because before the Misfits returned Jerry Only (real name Gerald Caiafa) and his younger brother Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (real name Paul Caiafa) were in a Christian metal band called "Kryst the Conqueror."
Some say it could be the singer ironically comparing himself to Christ.
As for what I personally think, I believe it could be either. But heres a theory; what if its about someone whos going to die (whether it be by terminal illness or something else) and they've tricked themselves into believing they're the second coming of Christ or that they'll be resurrected, to cope with their imminent death. That theories kinda bad not gonna lie, but it's fun to think of stories to pair with the songs I listen to. The song is most likely about Jesus though, and I think it really shows that Jerry was more in charge during the writing process after Glenn left. I will attach a YouTube video to this post so that you guys can check it out and maybe even leave your own theories!!
Lyrics are in the description. Thank you for reading!! >^w^<
