Well, I write a few fan fics, and I'd like you to take me seriously here, mainly on Harry Potter, in which I write Riddle, and The Marauder based tales... and Star Wars ones, which I write mainly on the old days of the sith... Darth Nihilus, Darth Malak, Darth Revan... Ect Ect...
I might post one after a bit... I am really quite good at writing for a ten year old...
The early histories of Albus Dumbledore, Tom Marvolo Riddle (I AM LORD VOLDEMORT! Loved that part) and Severus Snape are indeed fascinating. In "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," it was Riddle's mother I ended up feeling most sorry for; by the conclusion of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" I have to say that Severus strikes me as considerably nobler (if even more tragic) than Dumbledore, who seems somewhat ready to use people. It must be said that he asks a lot from Snape, without repaying him with much trust
Personally, I am currently working on a story set in the Doctor Who Universe, attempting to return the Time Lords into the world of normal spacetime. As a child I used to obsess about ways in which the Empress Jadis/White Witch might have survived between the time of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian. I am not sure if my next example counts, but I also puzzled over what the Enemy can possibly have been attempting at the Temptation in the Wilderness; surely the attempt to corrupt Jesus was futile - maybe it was just a necessary part of Jesus' being tested as we are yet without sin; nevertheless the concept of a hypothetical (though surely theologically speaking utterly impossible) timeline in which the would-be Messiah succumbed to the temptation to gain all the kingdoms of the world for the price of bowing down to Satan: instead of being crucified at thew age
The characters from the Star Wars continuum that intrigue me most are Obi Wan and Palpatine (successively Senator, Chancellor, and Emperor - a similar meteoric rise to Borusa of Gallifrey in Classic Doctor Who - Cardinal of the Prydonian Chapter, Chancellor and Lord President of the High Council of the Time Lords; I appear to be drawn to moral oppossites for mentors (e.g. Mithrandir/Gandalf and Curunir/Saruman or Merlin and Mordred and potential mistresses (e.g. on the one hand assorted Enchantresses such as Circe, Morgan le Fay, Jadis, Xeyide, and like-minded manipulators of men, e.g. Lady Macbeth; and on the other hand the virtuous among the living and the departed - both people I have met and others I have only read opf in this world and others).
