I must confess I am love with genuine patriotic music.

Favourite band is Russian right-wing extremist band Kolovrat.

This is my absolute favourite song.

For genuine patriotic music I'd say Woody Guthrie, homeless hobo bypassing the crooks and liars in power to remind us...

In my view,

Anchors Aweigh and the Marine Corps Hymn are patriotic as well as moving to my heart.

Patriotic music is usually pretty kitsch and fanciful. Kolovrat is average sounding, which is about right for a skinhead group that weren't really musical to start with. It is ironic that people blend Nazism and Russian nationalism given the history, all those Russian nationals that died in battle with Germany or froze to death. it is not like you can talk of white/red Russian because it concerns two wars.

A good example of how patriotic music is mostly aspiration is “Jerusalem” which is a English patriotic hymn by William Blake:

Don’t get me wrong the guy was a great poet and painter, but very much in his own world. Teary eyed revellers who sing it, don’t really get that it was never intended to be a hymn. It was merely a preface to Milton: a Poem called And did those feet in ancient time and unrelated to another work called Jerusalem.

I know it is not germane to the topic here, but rejecting the actual rich spiritual histories of Britain for some middle eastern religion grafted on is just (gasp)rediculous. However it is not to divert from the topic the OP started.

I like The Star Spangled Banner because the imagery is so vivid and compelling.

I love American patriotic music, and have a large collection on my iPod.

Perhaps my favorite is the one my great-great-grandmother wrote (the words anyway), The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Believe it or not that's a coincidence, I loved it long before I knew about her.

Which is an alliterative poem that the author admitted didn't have a lot to do with historical reality, but it's a great song.

where do i start tons of punk music glore: sum 41, rise against, billy talent,green day, three days grace,bad relgion, nofx,less than jake,ill scarelt,silverstein, escape the fate, senses fail, afi, the misfits, gob, black flag, minor threat, bad brains, anti-flag, susidal tenddicies, the enlgish beat, rx bandits, mikcey wah wah, gen x,revlitonary con,mest, wlid joe, talking heads,dead kennedies ,pod,pos and the fully down. protest metal like, system of a down, slipknot, gwar,trapt, apoctpytia and ill nino. even some protest rap like jay z, young jeezy, cyniks, dl incognito, lupe fiasco, chaminilare, ice t, beastie boys, run dmc,public enemy and ice cube.

I'm really not into Patriotic music or the concept of patriotism in general, but I fail to see how most of these bands are considered patriotic music..lol...Well the ones i've even heard of anyway....I mean GWAR??? lol really?

i consider patortic music anything with a reblious sound that tries to be uncommon, to do something that may be hated by the genreal public gwar for insteince, most people don't like thrash metal or metalcore, heck they hate metal period but gwar combined the metalcore and thrash sounds and made a genre called thrashcore. most of the bands i anmed ether sing about potlical mess; protest the system and have a grunge against what is common like the fully down the sing in an angery fashion about curent pop culture and how people are sheep dueing what is ever common just to be popular. which of these bands have you heard give me the names and i will tell you how i define them as patriotic; it means to do something rebleiouis a patriot is a rebal so i think any bands or rappers that rebel and do something difreant are rebals all the rap i said there all rap about poltics and s**t not just the sameo hod crap.
