I agree. From the songs I've heard, I can't really see what the fuss is about.

I think the idea is that in addition to being very successful and prolific, they were innovators in several styles. In other words they were 'ahead of their time', which is not so easy to appreciate all these years later.
Even so, I would probably put all those acts you've mentioned above the Beatles. (Ok, I'm not sure about Guns N Roses :) but 'Sweet Child of Mine' is probably better than any Beatles song I've heard.)

Perhaps The Beatles do have some great songs I've never heard.
I do quite like 'Eleanor Rigby' and 'Day Tripper'.

Btw, just being a pedant here, but they were called 'The Beatles', and it was a deliberate misspelling (a pun on the Beat Generation or something).

The Beatles aren't for everybody. I really like them and they are in my top 5 bands of all time. I'm only 21 and have been listening to them my whole life. I have my dad to thank for that. Another Beatles psychedelic song that you might want to check out is Tomorrow Never Knows from Revolver. Some critics say it was a forerunner to the psychedelic era. It also sounds very cool. I also LOVE John Lennon and George Harrison's solo stuff. I don't like Paul and Ringo's solo stuff that much.

Here's my point, though. According to just about every music critic I've read, the Beetle's music is the pinnacle of human aspiration. I've heard some Beetles stuff, and there's some decent songs, but that's it. "Can't Buy Me Love," for example, is a nice song in that it's pleasant to listen to, and it doesn't stretch on forever. But if I heard it on the radio between "Under Pressure" (Queen) or "Smokin'" (Boston), I probably wouldn't give it another thought.

...I maybe tend to like the really early - Throgh , perhaps , " A Hard Day's Night " - and the latest - " Abbey Road " and " Let It Be " - best :) . What-evva ! :D
