When I was a child, folk music was in the mainstream, and many of the performers actually sold millions of records. Some of the popular musicians were:

Nowadays, you occasionally see some of them reunited for PBS specials, or maybe some of them are still managing to eke out a living in obscure venues. But, you no longer see piles of their records available in record stores.
