When the mind is idle, i can't help but visualizing "music videos" in my head.

Example: If i'm taking a walk and listening to music, it doesn't matter if there are vocals or not. There's always a message in the music which translates to visual events for me.

I see music in colour, and it all depends on the root note.

Here's the note list and the colours I see.

E- Black
F- Dark brown
F#- Light brown
G- Green
G#- Light green
A- Red
A#- Red/orange
B- Lilac
C- Turquoise
C#- Sky blue
D- Orange
D#- Dark orange

I can see these quite vividly, and when it comes to chords, like 7ths, 9ths, 13ths and the like, the colours in my mind kind of distort, they get different tinges of colour added to them, so I'll see one solid block of colour with a spot of another.

^ Very similar to yourself there, I see music (and many other sounds) in colours.

That's what I meant when I said that I "see" music, but tones and "sounds" are perhaps more important than "notes".

C is the only note I see as happy. :P

I read musical notation like a story and can sight transpose to any instrument i am playing at the time.

I can also follow each instrument in an orchestra, right down to i can tell if someone plays slightly out of tune for one note. I can not aurally dictate this down though due to the fact my mind isn't set the the key of C. It seems set to Bb.

Don't know if it's the same, but my brain works like a visualizer when I'm listening to music. Sometimes it can be hyper-realistic with characters, events, and plots (usually involving lots of explosions, mechs, futuristic tech, etc. lol) all interacting in a way that's choreographed to the music, but still makes sense. Other times it's just abstract colors and patterns that move and change also in accordance to the music.

Mine works exactly like that!

I am a pianist so when i hear individual notes, I imagine the keys being pressed down (no matter what instrument it is) and in tonal music I see colours in key signatures. C Major for example is yellow and F# is Purple.

I have synesthesia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia ), which means that the "wires" in my head are crossed and multiple senses are triggered when one is stimulated. I used to see music as many of you have described. Now the only synesthesia I have left is grapheme-color, which means each letter, number, day of the week, and month has a different color. Oh, plus spatial synesthesia: I imagine the months of the year, and years, laid out before me in my head when I visualize them.

Is it normal for an aspie to "see" (like in "imagining a picture") of something that is heard or said?

What I mean is, I have no musical education. I don't know how to read or write notes. Yet whenever I hear polyphonic music (like renaissance/classical music) I can "see" the musical notes as they are layered on each other and I am able to insert them in FL Studio's piano roll.

Is this because of my Aspergers Syndrome?

If so, how come people claim this is a disease? I don't see it as a disease!

When people speak, I visualize the words they say automatically, but as for music I remember it as an audio file. However, these may be of interest to you:

Well, I often imagine things when I'm listening to music I like. And it can get very strange, so I like to keep it to myself what I think of. Not in a sexual way, though.

Sort of. I don't usualy pay attention to the colors or patterns anymore becuase I'm paying attention to the lyrics. I most listen to nothing but Eminem anymore and I'm too distraced by the lyrics.

It gives me a physical feeling and a sense of temperature.. Also taste.. I don't think I can see music. I believe when I was young I could see colors but I can't anymore.

Music projects feelings and ideas. Electronic music provides me with excitement and motivation to do stuff like dancing and overall enjoy the good-timed instrument playing that transmits me the carefulness and dedication of the artist when he composed that song.
Of course, relaxing and maybe "darker" composings (which I do) can also bring me motivation and think about the message that the song wants to project. For example, one of my songs "The Town of the Shadows" wants to transmit the darkness (The lack of clarity and overall ignorance) of the populace living worldwide. There is also symbolism on the song's notes. For example, the piano roll shows that the piano's notes resemble christianity's symbol, which is a cross. This, for me, makes these people live in complete darkness.

Music is imagination's highway.

Yes, I see music. I see the notes, vibrations, and rhythms as colors. Sometimes the combination of all those things create a surreal picture in my mind that's ever changing.
