I was going to see Infected a couple of years back, but i chickened out when i heard they had a 30k PA!

The First time I saw Ozzy, after the show I was deaf for 4 hours. After that I got customised earplug made by an audio-prothesist, I always wear them when I go to a show since that.

It's a must for peoples who go to concert frequently.

Actually it might have been a 50k system, i cant remember.

Ive already lost the high level on one side 11 yrs ago, it was caused either by some earlier exposure or a freak viral infection (influenza). The damage has possibly made me extra susceptible to accelerated loss from further noise, so i try not to compromise myself by going places where i cant have somewhere quiet to retire to if i suddenly feel uncomfortable.

Ive probably missed out on a LOT because of this (im 28 now). Earplugs have let get away with more, but i knew someone who got an infection from using them and suffered quite bad damage.

Forget about the power ... it doesn't really mean anything. Any system can damage your hearing, especially if you aren't prepared with some kind of earplug, but it has to be sanitary. I guess your friend can tell you that. Thanks for pointing it out, since I kind of skipped how important it is to keep them clean. It's better to get the small disposable ones (they come in lots of sizes) and throw them away after using them to prevent any possibility of infection. If you get the high tech versions, like atxa has, they may require a little maintenance, but I'll bet they work great and provide more comfort.

The part I bolded is almost a contradiction ... almost ... because the damage that happened from the flu may not be related to pressure damage from noise. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that exposure to music is much less damaging to hearing than a noise at the same sound pressure level. It's mainly about the time of exposure to sound pressure rather than the actual loudness of the exposure. Music is full of quieter places for the ear to rest where as noise is constant.

I can most definitely indentify with the NEED for quiet, though. I'm still looking for a good quiet.

Sorry to pull the thread over, but LIVE music rules and I wanted to encourage it.

Now how about some more band names to look for.

Was that too loud?
:)

There's all sorts of names for this kind of stuff.

The Prodigy started off as rave but got heavier (oh and be warned: the last album was rubbish :x ).

Thats true. Their last album before their great compilation is pants. I also would like to check out Keith Flint's Song DJ Mix album "The dirtchambers sessions volume 1". Where he mixes random songs in a big beat electronica style. I think you can get it, but he didn't release it in the shops or the charts.

Sometimes. I really like Celldweller, and he's fairly trance-y. Also like that song "Red Tape" that got famous from being in the trailers for the "Underworld" movies. I'm kinda more into gothic/rock/industrial than pure electronica...

Does anybody else like this music? It's electronic music, and some of it is really hard-thumping.

I'm madly into all sorts of dance like trance, hardtrance, hardhouse, hardcore etc. The ones you like i.e tiesto and alex k are quite good. Have you heard hes album called Ultimate NRG?

I'm real particular but yeah, I like some of it.

When it comes to my favorite dj's, I think for trance its gotta be John 00 Fleming and Mark EG, ATAT and OS/2 throw down sometimes but its a mixed bag. As far as trance producers and remix artists I'd have to say the best tracks I've heard have been by people like JamX, De Leon (Jamx & DeLeon = DuMonde), Binary Finary, Armin, K90, Airwave, Bodyshock, Kai Tracid is good for a track once in a while, and I think James Holden had done a bunch of the tracks I like that John 00 Fleming spins (I like that deeper edge where its got that callibrated synth, almost sounds like it's heading toward psytrance but its not). I also do like psytrance but again, real particular with that. I used to like Hux Flux a lot, some of their newer stuff is good though, I'm also really feeling some of the Synchro tracks I found (like Hux Flux but a little harder, darker, and they reinsert a lot of good techno elements as well). Someone else who I saw live and really dug but never actually found any mixes online by - Lori the Hifi Princess, it's psytrance but it's more like good oldschool acid techtrance, all the right sounds and reticent enough in the mood to be really dope.

As far as techno the people I'd have to recommend are Chris McCormack, Mark EG (spins hard techno as well), Adam Beyer, T1000, Plastikman, Glenn Wilson, Chris Liberator, Dave the Drummer, Vibe Bar Rejects, Lawrie Immersion, Mike Dearborne, Neil Landstrumm, Adam X, and Commander Tom's good but he's kinda right in the middle between trance and techno.

k, i'd like your honest opinion then on the following.

Commercial Trance Track:
Alpha 9 - Come Home

Commercial Tech House:
Kiki Feat Pirica - Immortal (Anja Schneider Remix)

Commercial Progressive House Track:
Adam Shaw - Out of Reach

Commercial House Track:
Ralph Good feat. Polina Griffith - SOS (Original Mix)

Commercial Happy Hardcore:
Matrix & Futurebound - Strength 2 Strength (Smooth Remix)

I only posted the following because their highly acclaimed on dance podcasts, itunes, and beatport, so I'd like to know if you mean most commercial trance / happy hardcore / house tunes that are top 10, not in top10 but still popular and found on most peoples ipods, or in general, all of them that deviate from the older or more purer form of the genera is crap.

I have always been a fan of house music. One of the best is Strings of Life by Derick May from about 87. I was constantly amazed at how that music exploded and became more pervasive as the years went by. Back in the 80's I assumed it was going to be a fad but how wrong was I?
I love some of the late 90's trance too and have had a go at doing my own mixes over the years.
