Conformity is god - king of kings, lord of lords. To think or feel outside of the box of what you've been told is okay to think, say, or feel, is a sign of being a flesh-factory defect.

When people say things like this to me I just turn around and walk away, typically hoping that I can calm myself down in the next few hours enough to enjoy the rest of my night regardless.

Like techstepgenr8tion says, it is amazing how microscopically sensitive people are to social "laws" like that. I try to imagine what it would be like if actual laws were policed so exactingly -- no one would jay-walk or drive 0.1 mph over the speed limit!
