Lol, almost anything is these days.

Then again things hit that balloon where it gets mega-popular, ultra-happy and synthetic, sounds like a style of clothing, gets all the bubblegum fairweather sorts in, the idol falls, everyone wants to put it behind them and forget the ever where there or listened to it, and meanwhile the underground not only still made good music through it all but will still continue to make good music afterward. Clownstep didn't kill dnb, I don't think this will kill dubstep either.

Skrillex is to dubstep now what Current Value was to drum & bass 6 years ago...

Except that he is way more popular and cheesy...

Over in the UK or Europe something this would pack a floor, here in the US it would clear a floor - maybe even the whole club.

Its not to say that we haven't had great US artists along the way. In the way of dubstep the US also has Babylon System, Christine Vaccine, Machinedrum, Sepalchre, FaltyDL, 6Blocc, some guys down south called Sines, and I'm sure there are more houshold names I've seen. Likewise, even when jungle/dnb was new and techstep was just beginning in the UK you had guys like Stakka and KT as well as Dara, AK1200, 3D, Phantom 45, Snuggles, etc. who were right here in the states to match. The difference with them though - none of them were making any attempt at the club scene.

Deadmau5 is actually from my province Ontario, Canada. :)

And you guys still have WEMF, Ascension, and all the other Destiny parties that I used to drive up that way for between 1999 and 2001. I'm kind of surprised that you'd have a hard time finding people that like trance, techno, jungle, or dnb up there.

A lot of the quality UK Dubstep people are making a sort of Techno hybrid, now. Scuba, Boddika, Instra-Mental, Joy Orbison etc. Actually, no Scuba's been making Techno throughout his career as SCB.
Even some Drum and Bass people are making Techno(ish) tracks under assumed names. Here's Marcus Intalex as Trevino

Plenty did that right out of the gate as well, 2562 is a great example of that.

I have his Audio Sausage (??) set from Soundcloud, he's got some deeper tracks toward the end that liked. It seems like what him and Al Bleek (Boddika, 1/2 of Instra:mental) are really flirting with is dub techno; which on the bright side they had a lot to do with introducing me to Actress and Martin Schulte who are both great listens as well from that side of the stage.

D-Bridge has been playing with this a lot lately as well; doing more in the way of 'keeping it' in dnb territory but giving it that sort of flavor:

Actually techno is pretty popular here but most of my close friends aren't really into it. For one thing I live in the country....enough said. lol It's way more popular in the bigger cities like Toronto.

More evidence that dubstep is quite alive, well, and working:

IMO, this is better than Skrillex.

With that said, I'm guilty of owning two Skrillex albums.

That's all I've really heard as well, but I really enjoyed it. I thought it gave Korn a fresher sound, and a little more originality.
