You bet!! Music, particularly classical (the genre), was my first special interest since I was really young and it's impact is still great on my life today (hence my username)!

Music has helped me and many other people through depression. It helped me get over my first broken heart. It helped many others get their feelings out. It helped my brother destroy my own soul. It is truly a beautiful thing.
I play guitar and bass for myself. When I'm kicked out of my house to live a stupid life on my own, I will have a certain advantage over several other people. The ability to enjoy and play music is something that many people can't enjoy because they decided to not follow through. Without music, the music industry and the general love of music, society is incredibly boring. Many would be driven to other ways out if there was no beat to go by.

TL;DR, Music is a truly beautiful thing: It can both help and hinder, make love and hate, but most of all, it is one of the purest forms of art. From tribal beats to classical to Rock n Roll to electronic to heavy metal, let us keep the beat going.

music helps me relax. It is one of the few things that keeps my anxiety down, well as down as it can possibly go for me in order to function. I do not know what I would do without my 90's industrial and death-robot albums. Thanks dystopian sci-fi music nerds for making awesome electro music to keep me chilled.

Totally - keeps me sane and relatively cheerful. Music and hillwalking help me centre myself and tune the stress out in different ways - I don't like to combine the two though. I used to have some epic post-rock type stuff or Agalloch on headphones when hiking but the two inputs detracted from each other in real time. :?

when i'm climbing a tall hill on my bike, [i avoid listening to music via mp3 player or headphones for safety reasons whenever i'm on the roads] i replay inside my head, eidetic renditions of tinking barrelhouse piano music, like "alexander's ragtime band" or "strike up the band," that type of music, it helps me ignore the stress in my body as i'm struggling up that hill.

Music usually makes me focus like nobody's business.
I'm always distracted by anything. Sounds, shiny objects, movement.

But when listening to music, I focus only on what I am looking directly at. Making me better at games and helping me draw better pictures.
