Love their music. If I'm not in the mood for anything else I can always get into Steely Dan.

I used to share an office space with a guy who had a lot of aspie traits and he *loved* Steely Dan. I think it may have been a special interest for him or something.

Went through a pretty big Steely Dan kick a couple years ago. Still like to get em out every now and again. Caves of altamira is one of my favorites. Amazing sense of humor those guys have.

You're all my favorite people now. After 'Gaucho', and therefore the breakup; one of my brothers more or less forced me to listen to all their albums over and over. I was sick of it. After a several months of no Dan, I heard them on the radio. Hooked from then on. I'm in a clique that sees at least one of every show they've done since '92. And we all have to book flights to do that. Got to talk to John Herington for 20 minutes this past summer the night before a show. If you are familiar with "Here at the Western World" you'll see I have something in common with DeaconBlues.

Love all their albums up to Gaucho. One of the bands my dad and I bond over. He actually bought their live album "Alive in America" yesterday and it's great.

When I was in grad school, Aja had just been released. My roommate played it over, and over, and over....

To this day whenever I hear Deacon Blues I get flashbacks of weed, cheap red wine, and hangovers.

The "Do It, Again" complex, guitar-solo rhythms...those solo-rhythms made me just s**t myself.

...and then...that jam at the end?....whoa!

Then, on other tracks, Jeff Porcaro (drummer) was, absolutely, B.A.!

From 'Can't Buy A Thrill' through 'Gaucho' (and therefore 'Alive In America'), for me there are no bad songs. That's 7 albums worth of songs. I don't feel that way about another band. I am not a lyrics guy, but I like theirs. That's a topic unto itself. But man, the stuff they do with instruments, arrangements, mixing and all that. I wasn't immediately taken in. So anyone reading this who isn't familiar with Steely Dan, let me recommend something; if you give them a listen, do so alone. Do it when you've nowhere to be. Turn the volume up. Relax and give it your attention. Try different albums - they evolve over their career (DF and WB) and the other musicians change every album, even every song. Many of the other musicians are headline acts in their own right, some might even say legends.
