I cannot draw in anything but photorealistic style, but have never been able to draw faces at all well (the eyes are always wonky, but otherwise it's fine). Cartoon style faces are much more emotive as the expressions are over-exaggerated. Good portrayals though.

Glad you think so. :)

It would be really nice to see some of your art, if you don't mind. :)

At request of OP, some of my drawing, all with reference images.

If you can detect emotion in some, and I hope you can, it was there in the original image. I cannot draw without a reference. BTW, 2 may not be entirely SFW.

^ I actually love the shading you put in those drawings. Very nice. :)

I was just talking to my friend about how I wonder if my inability to draw anything but blank expressions could have something to do with AS. :P Now I want to try this and see how it goes.

Does the list dictate whether you have to draw the expression from memory or use references?

I think I'll try to draw from memory to see exactly how capable I am. This should be amusing.

The original rules were to do it from memory, but I broke that rule because it was nearly impossible.

Good luck!

I already posted this in another thread, but I was able to draw the "pleased" expression from memory. I also added "embarassed" to the list. :P
