Yes. From the era when I was working as a party deejay (long after childhood).

That was part of a cool 90s R+B trend...reviving Fifties style vocal harmonizing and combining it with Nineties hip-hop. Hip-hop doo-wop.

Boyz-ii-Men were the most famous. But there a number of great guy groups (Soul-4-Real, Four PM, Az-Yet) and girl groups (SWV, Brownstone) in that vein back then.

you were a DJ?...thats pretty cool!

Yeah. It was quite an experience. Before that I started to go to singles dances. A couple of ladies I dated from them said "you have better musical taste than the lame djs at these singles dances. One of them saw a want ad. So I answered it. And was trained and started working for company that supplied djs ...most to wedding receptions for some years.

I went on tour with this dude Bobby Gimby.

I was a cricket in his Cricket Song, but I can't find it on YT.

I still have my autographed vinyl of this album.

Such a visceral memory - Every time we picked up my Californian grandparents from the airport we played this on the 8 Track in the car. Grandma would be decked out in rhinestones and other 70s swag like the women from Dynasty.

I can smell her perfume every time I hear it.

I was always excited because they arrived with a suitcase full of gifts.

I remember singing this with my mom when I was 5 and we were driving downtown to do some shopping. My family was going through some especially difficult times. This song made me feel like everything was going to be okay.

Morning Has Broken ^

The first song I remember hearing in my life, although I'm sure it wasn't.
I was about four or five and outside playing in the clover.
Dad had a little transistor radio.

I was trying to figure out how morning could break.

A few years ago I ordered an album that reminded me of Dad, from eBay.
When the album arrived, the 45 of Morning Has Broken was packaged with it.
I hadn't ordered it so that was really freaky.
