I think dancing is quite stupid and pointless.

I'm sorry.

It all depends on your values, though, I suppose.

I dance everything I can. . .

So far I've studied ballet, a little modern and jazz, west and central African dance, and American, Latin, and International Ballroom. . . Right now I'm in ballet and gold level Latin, but just last week I took class from this master guest artist from Africa. . . it was amazing. There's something far from ordinary about African drum and dance, the way they interact and build on each other. . . Oh, also studied Bartenief movement analysis for a semester, and long to do more . . . :)

It's pretty cool that you started as an adult. I did, and I've always felt quite like a sore thumb for it. . . the average dancer on the touring ballroom team where I study is younger than I was when I started.

I found this thread while searching for something else.

I'm an avid contra dancer. I highly advocate giving it a try. It's incredibly easy to learn, you get to meet lots of nice (and often quirky) people, and there's no commitment!

Yes, I used to dance during my teen years. I did almost every style of dance except ballet, and was good at it. I used to be part a performing group that represented schools in NSW. These days I don't have the schedule to do this anymore though.
