Obviously the song was good enough to make the record, it was good enough to be a single, and it has been ENJOYED for 3 decades now. It has to be a classic at that point because of the sheer number of listeners.
Nickelback and Creed are enjoyed by many people, but does it really mean that they are good bands?

if you haven't expierienced Led Zep on a couple o' hits of Acid you might not appreciate the depths of their music, either.
I'd rather shoot myself in the head than listen to Led Zeppelin on acid. What could I appreciate? Their lyrics about Mordor? Robert Plants annoying voice? Their crappy production? Their mainly stupid fanbase?
It's not an opinion that Led Zeppelin suck, it's a fact. If you like Led Zeppelin you either:
Like crappy music
Are a teenager
Grew up listening to them so you feel nostalgia every time you listen to them
Think they have a cool name so you listen to them
Are a fan of similar of bands who take themselves way too seriously (Nickelback for example)
Like music with crappy production
I'm sure that if Einstein were still alive he could scientifically prove that Led Zeppelin sucked.
