Copy-pasting the whole thing here would be somewhat obnoxious considering its size.

I was thinking the same thing Hector, didnt want to go over board with it.

Cowboyfromhell, I am drooling looking at your AC/DC collection, the other day I was at Bestbuy and looked for a AC/DC box set but unfortunately they didn't have one.

I don't see any Lynyrd Skynyrd or Neil Young. My favorites classic rock artists, have every album by both of them.

Some of you seem to take a studio album only approach, I tend to go for the greatest hits, anthologies, or a box set and a little of everything. I tend to only listen to the hits, and not the whole album.

You own every Neil Young album? That's quite impressive. Neil Young's one of my favourite artists, and even then there's only a certain portion of his discography I'd listen to.

Of his solo full-length studio albums you seem to be missing Journey Through the Past (which I haven't heard), Harvest Moon (which I don't care for that much, but has a big following) and the soundtrack to Dead Man (which I like, but it's strange and instrumental).

Yeah, unfortunately they don't have a CD box set, I believe. But somewhere they do have a box set on vinyl; all of the American albums up to Stiff Upper Lip. Expensive as hell, though.

And Dokken, In Flames has been around 'bout as long as KoЯn has. And I don't blame you for not being "hip about these hip cool bands," there was a time where I wasn't either. Before I was 16, I only knew of one of today's bands. So don't beat yourself up about it. :D

Yeah, I now see I am also missing a few other ones, after looking it up. Journey through the Past, is music from the movie, with the same name. I dont have a few other soundtracks also, but I can do without them. Also I am missing a couple live albums.
I dont know how I ever missed getting Harvest Moon.

I think I might be missing a couple Lynyrd Skynyrd albums also.
So I said every, but I was wrong

Been wanting some Skynyrd albums, but while I was at Wal*Mart, found a couple albums that were dirt cheap. Turns out they were fake albums, compilation albums made out look like albums, just albums being remade (different songs switched out). See, I prefer to boycott greatest hits albums, I am completely against them, and this was on short notice, they were right there on the shelf in front of me. But I did return them unopened for something else, wisely.

Just wondering, why boycott greatest hits albums?
Walmart is good for selling ripoff albums, there usually very bad remakes, made for walmart only to sell.
For Skynyrd albums, any album from MCA Records is good.
The new Skynyrd goes threw a differnt label, not sure what one, but they also release remade songs of the classics (Not the same in my opionion).

I think the whole idea of greatest hits albums are ridiculous. For me, I'd rather have the albums with the hits on them, and not just like the hits themselves. There are also plenty of great songs that don't make it onto greatest hits discs. If I want a greatest hits album, I'll make a playlist of my favorite songs and burn it to a CD. They're a way to make money. And I also don't like the fact that there is no effort involved in making them, on top of getting that extra money.

Oh, and buy the way: Yeah, you will see a small few greatest hits albums in my list, but those I either bought when I was younger and I was just developing into a music fan, or stuff that was bought for me as a gift.

But yeah, like I said, the Skynyrd albums were bought on such short notice. I just didn't know much about the band's albums, only knowing the name of one, which they didn't have. I usually do my CD shopping at Best Buy (I had even bought another CD at Best Buy shortly before), but these were dirt cheap.

Okay, I understand, I normally just get a greatest hits album or something equivalent, to get a sampling of that artists music and some of there hits. If I really like them, then I work on buying there studio albums or box set. For me, it isn't very cost effective to buy, say 5 studio albums, if I am only going to listen to one song off each of them, if I could buy one greatest hits album and get the 5 songs. My dad will only buy a studio album, but I think that is more because he grew up during that time and listened to the albums back then.

I've not heard of neither of them. I'll check them out now, thanks!

Here, check them and a LOT of similar bands out. Load their MP3 stream into your MP3 software for maximum enjoyment.

Also, FWIW, my music collection is close to 60GB, and I really don't feel up to printing out all of the albums out for these forums.

I used a program called Directory Printer, then just copy and paste it, really hope no one is actually typing there lists all out.

Did you mean 60GB Fogman

Also wondering what format everyone has there music in, lossless or lossy, Wav, MP3
I got most of mine ripped in lossless formats (the only reason I still buy albums from the store), but I also download a lot of MP3 from music service.

Yes I meant 60GB. -- When I rip CD's I use CdEX, which is a frontend for the LAME encoder, which I use to encode @ 320kbs. I also use the Fraunhofer Codecs for other stuff.
