The Extended Phenotype by Richard Dawkins. A sort of commentary to The Selfish Gene, but in my opinion much more interesting.

I live not far from the actual Whistle Stop Cafe, which is really called the Irondale Cafe, but I think fried green tomatoes are yucky.

I'm finally reading The Good Son by Iris Murdoch. My mother kept bugging me to read it before she died and now 8 years later I'm honoring her wish. And she was right. It's brilliant.

edit: I got the name of the book wrong. It's The Good Apprentice.

"Even Now"-Karen Kingsbury

Sometimes hope for the future is found in the ashes of yesterday.
Shane Galantera man ready to put down roots after years of searching. But is he making the right choice? Or is there a woman somewhere who even now remembers as does he those long-ago days . . . and a love that hasn't faded with time?

Lauren Gibbs a successful international war correspondent who gave up on happily-ever-after years ago when it was ripped away from her. Since then, shes never looked back. So how come she cant put to rest the one question that haunts her: Why is life so empty?

Emily Anderson a college freshman raised by her grandparents, and about to take her first internship as a journalist. But before she can move ahead, she discovers a love story whose tragic ending came with her birth. As a result, she is drawn to look back and search out the mother shes never met.

A young woman seeking answers to her hearts deep questions. A man and woman separated by lies and long years. . . yet who have never forgotten each other. With hallmark tenderness and power, Karen Kingsbury weaves a tapestry of lives, losses, love, and faith and the miracle of resurrection.

2001: A Space Odyssey
It's spectacular, but it's going a bit slow so far. I'm right in the middle of the book right now.

I just finished reading the book "King of Russia" by Dave King and I finished it in two days. It was a wonderful read about King as he went to coach in the Russian Super League (hockey)... tells of all the things he went through and little things about Russia. It's very interesting.

Freedom Summer, by Bruce Watson - a non-fictional account on the "Freedom Summer" movement wherein college students from all over the U.S. converged on Mississippi in the summer of 1964 intent on registering African-Americans to vote.
