Years and years ago, I got to see Monteverdi's opera "The Coronation of Poppea" live. For context, this loveduet comes at the end of three acts of self-centred tyranny and literal backstabbing. 17th century mood-whiplash!

I liked it! I would LOVE to see a live opera some time.
Early opera freaks me out a little because I know that the male part was very often played by a castrato. It's strange to me that people ever thought that was a good idea.
