They're beautiful like your frame and workshop. :)

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

I'm quite keen on doing as wide a variety of commissions as I can (heavy structural works right through to fine carvings) but I think I'll probably start to cut back on the heaviest projects in the next few years and concentrate on the carvings - there's only so much a knackered old body like mine can take!

All the same, no matter what I do I try to enjoy it as much as I can - the wood lends itself to this because every piece is different and even the same piece can often reveal new things when viewed from different angles, under different light or as wax is applied. There's always something new to see and enjoy...

Here's a photo of a pair of pectoral crosses as a comparison of the appearance before and after wax was applied...

Image

.. and another photo I took of the coat of arms as it was nearing completion whilst a lightning storm was raging just outside creating a slightly eerie light which seemed to emphasize hitherto unseen parts of the wood's character...

Image

Often, though, just enjoying the day is all I need...

On days like this, I do love my work. 8)

I'm glad you like them. :D I'm working on an oak Moai at the moment.
I also quite like trying to make pictures and sculptures out of other materials. My avatar is a small reworking of a skull and crossbones I made out of some spare parts from my Triumph Bonneville plus a few sockets and a pair of torque wrenches - I think it works best if you squint at it a bit.

I use it as the main logo for my Bonnie site - here.

I've done a few cartoon strips too, but I can't seem to find any right now.

That's really cool especially for a 3 year old. :)

That's cool. :thumleft: Plus your wood crafts and carpentry look awesome. You're incredibly talented!

I like that. Your son has a good aesthetic sense. The space and shapes and colours are very pleasing.

This is a great logo. Looks like you've had lots of fun on your bike traveling through Greece and Africa. 8)

Thanks Moog and Taupey. I think it has a certain Matisse like quality. He's 13 now and still loves to draw but now he's more typical for his age, meaning tight and cramped drawings of mayhem and destruction.

It does have a Matisse like quality, it's really beautiful. Ah yes, I remember those days when my son would draw mayhem and destruction. :D
