Read Mervyn Peake's "Boy in Darkness", which I may have read before. It's too short. I may have to read the Gormenghast trilogy again. The TV production was excellent.

Just rounding off my Douglas Hofstadter perseveration with "I Am a Strange Loop".

I am always rereading a book called "The Roots of Evil" by Ervin Staub. It is an excellent sourcebook for anyone interested in the origins of group think leading to mass murder and genocide. It is not a primer on psychopathy, which has been the focus of Robert Hare's research on humans whose behaviour and mindset suggest they function as psychopaths.

There are interesting links, however between pschopathic humans and ones who engage in genocide.

At the moment I am reading a book called "Hitler's Shadow War", by Donald M. McKale. Summary: the war against the Jews was planned and fought parallel to the nazi war. McKale's argument is a forceful and factual historical recount of genocide occurring along with the nazi conquering of Europe and Russia, as hitler ranted in his notorious antisemitic tome mein kampf.

Metamagical Themas: Questing for the Essence of Mind and Pattern by Douglas R.. Hofstader.

One of those cool books that take on life, the universe, and everything. Fiction or nonfiction- Viva la phantasmagorias!

Principles of Mathematical Analysis by Walter Rudin. But the words reading it might not be accurate.

Last two posts were nice. I've finished "I Am a Strange Loop". No, for a bit of less heavy reading...

"The High Crusade" Poul Anderson (1960)

Either my memory is shot, or I really haven't ever read it before. Amusing (if rather old) ideas, so far.

"Magician" by Raymond E. Feist. It's his "revised" version. The author's cut.
