Redesign for Kasaqa. This time I wanted her to have a slightly less Neolithic/tribal look, as her culture has been upgraded from a small tribe to an advanced kingdom flavored with a mixture of ancient Egyptian and sub-Saharan African elements. The kingdom has also been renamed from Badari to Aseti (the former was derived from the Badarian culture of predynastic Egypt).

Redesign for Gareth. Gareth's background and personality have undergone a lot more revision in the past week than Kasaqa's. Originally he was supposed to be a self-centered but honorable pirate, but now he's a more law-abiding and noble guy who actually fights pirates. His culture is still Germanic/Norse-inspired though.

Dawn of Fantasy is a real-time strategy (RTS) computer game by Reverie Studios in which you play as one of three fantasy races (humans, elves, and orcs) and try to conquer the world one territory at a time. Although the game's human faction is of course based heavily on the European Middle Ages, as are most human cultures in the fantasy genre, a few people on the official forums have requested the addition of non-European human units or civilizations. This concept art for a hypothetical black human unit owes its inspiration to these requests. I don't know if Reverie Studios will ever address them or if non-white units will have to be modded in by the players themselves, but either way I would love to see this in the game.
This guy's outfit draws mostly from the ancient Egyptian culture, but his shield's design was partially inspired by those of the Maasai people of Kenya.
