if you could point out where i said 'lol she has a penis' it might help validate your statement.
the latter part of your post is essentially reiterating what i've already said.. but if you still have a grievance that's up to you..
i'd prefer it if you didn't call me transphobic though, as it's unjustified and untrue.. i am severely mysophobic, moderately agoraphobic and slightly arachnophobic..

The "ladyboy" comment.

Back on topic, I also don't care for Florence and the Machine.

i'm well aware of what i said.. just challenging you to point out the transphobic attitude that seemed so apparent to you, unless you'd care to stop labelling me as transphobic?
i'm perfectly entitled to find it ironic and somewhat funny that someone who calls themself 'lady' and is a 'sex symbol' if not personally aimed at men, at least marketed toward them, is heavily rumoured to be a hermaphrodite. aren't i?
if she were, the only issue i would possibly have with that is the arguable dishonesty.

on topic, i don't find myself 'hating' the individual pop stars anymore, just their approach to music, their appreciation of it and respect of music (or lack thereof).. i think this has a serious negative impact on music as a whole, because they are taken so seriously by so many.
i love music and really don't want to see it cheapened and 'diminished' by anyone.

Your comment was transphobic because you were using the suggestion that Lady Gaga might be a transsexual in a derogatory manner as an insult. I realize that you may not personally have any deep feelings of hatred towards the transsexual community, but you've got to realize how that sort of talk makes you sound. To put it simply, if you don't like being labeled transphobic then you need to be careful not to say transphobic things.

That said, it is extremely likely that Lady Gaga is a cisgender woman. No one so far has been able to provide any evidence to support otherwise. I can also tell you right now that a male to female transsexual would not be able to sing the way she does. Hormone replacement therapy does nothing to alter a man's voice once it has changed during puberty. Actual transsexuals have to train themselves to use less resonance in their speaking voices, which makes them sound more feminine, and that's not going to allow you to sing in the mezzo-soprano range, the way she does. The best you can hope for is to be a counter-tenor, which... doesn't sound like her.

In all likely hood the origin of this rumor is based simply upon her appearance-- a look obviously inspired by gay drag culture as well as flamboyant gay performers like Freddy Mercury. She is basically a female drag queen. So the general young, male population, who doesn't know the difference between a drag queen and a transsexual, sees her and says, "dude, she looks like a tranny!"

Coming from someone with with an education and background in music, part of which includes music marketing, I can say without a doubt that is patently untrue. Female pop stars are, without exception, marketed towards young woman. That is their main demographic. If you don't like Lady Gaga, chances are it has more to do with the fact that you are not a female within the ages 13-25 than anything else.

i don't see where i was derogatory towards her.. and not simply because i am ignorant. perhaps that i mentioned it and appeared to find it funny, it was perceived as an insult.??
i do find it vaguely funny but is that so wrong?
i don't think she's transsexual, rather a hermaphrodite. possibly.. people on the internet say all sorts of things, the main rumour was that she herself confirmed it. anyway true or not now seems irrelevant. i give up trying to 'explain myself' i did no more than say she has a penis and added boy to her title in a way that apparently upset 2 people. i don't like her but this stems from first hearing some of her so-called 'music' after that she could look, dress and act in any way it would make little difference to my opinion.. whatever the gender of a person has no real impact on musical ability, or even really range assuming she uses auto-tune too.
i am a musician, i find her music 'disgusting' as it were, nothing else.
i need to perhaps stop talking to people who seem emotionally attached to her..

I really don't have any strong feelings towards her one way or another. It was mainly the "ladyboy" type comments you were being criticized for. You posted something on the Internet and people responded to you. That's how it works.

well i personally don't see ladyboy as a bad word.. but anyway i'm sure if there is a genuine issue i'll be contacted by a moderator soon enough.
it seems quite patronising to tell me 'i posted something on the internet and people responded...' etc
unless you genuinely believe i was unaware of how a message board usually works? but i'll leave that. i hereby retire myself from this particular topic. if i caused offence it certainly wasn't intentional, but i'm not sorry that i said what i thought in the way it first occured to me.

Well, just so you know in the future, "ladyboy" is considered extremely derogatory and offensive. My point was that when you post something on the internet, you make it available to an extremely wide audience. If you say something that is incorrect or stupid, expect to be criticized and/or made fun of. If I sounded patronizing it is only because so many people seem to misunderstand this. They seem to be under the impression that the Internet is place where everything they write can be forever enshrined without any sort of criticism or rebuttal. They seem to think the only responses they deserve to ever get are, "LOL, that's funny, dude!" or "yeah, that's a good point." What would be the fun in that?

Yeah, see that right there might be your problem. You'd be doing yourself a favor if you thought a little beyond what first occurs to you before you write it. Could save you some butthurt.

Quite. I only heard that it was a specific and trendy piece of software recently, and had been mentally referring to it as "that stupid fad for using a vocoder in odd places where there really isn't any call for it" - it took me a while to work out that the artists in question just can't sing what they're trying to. I mean, sh**, if I want to sing something I can't I practice it or work around it by changing the song or dropping it an octave or whatever, it's not brain surgery.

So true. That's why I listen to either independent or lesser known mainstream bands and singers.

I'd say the thing that bothers me the most about the the whole Justin Bieber phenomenon is not him so much as the extent to which they are pumping up this kid's ego. Being in the limelight at such a young age and having everyone constantly telling you how great you are is almost never good for a person's development. Plus his music is very boring; actually very un-catchy and dull. I mean what's the hook in that Baby Baby song? "Aaooooohhhhhh!" It sounds like someone told him to clean his room or do his homework.
