I love jazz in all of its iterations; I listen to smooth jazz sparingly and with caution, however.

Anyone here familiar with the ECM record label? The label specializes in audiophile quality, mostly northern European instrumental music from the 1970s onward. The genre-bending jazz on it usually has some new age and modern classical elements and, I would say, a certain Caucasian flavor. Jazz notables include Pat Metheny, Paul Bley, Bill Frisell, Terje Rypdal, and Keith Jarrett. You can also find the works 20th century classical composers Avro Part, Steve Reich, and Phillip Glass on here as well as some "world music."

I discovered ECM because I was attracted to their beautifully minimalist album covers while browsing the library stacks. Sometimes you really can judge a book by its cover.

Bill frisel collaborated on a record by by one of my favourite Rock Bands (Earth) so i've heard a tiny bit. I have the t-shirt for the record on now actually.
